Question: Can I distribute programs created using the Bot Package?
Answer: Yes of course, this is one of the intended purposes of the book. You may release the bot.jar file along with any of your own programs, IF you or your company owns a copy of the book. You many not distribute any source code from the book though, as this would violate Sybex's copyright.
Question: Where can I buy the book.
Answer: Many places. Amazon is one such source, click here for more info.
Question: Where can I ask additional questions?
Answer: The Heaton Research forums, which can be found here..
Question: What does the cover mean?
Answer: The cover is consistent with the Sybex Transcend Technique series that I am in. The cover shows a Zen rock garden, which implies balance. The Transcend Technique series attempts to balance programming skill with real-world technique. It is really more of a series cover than specifically my book.
Question: Have you made any updates to the bot.jar file and where can I get them?
Answer: Yes. You can always find the latest version of the bot.jar file here.
Question: Does this work with firewalls/proxies.
Answer: Yes. However, firewalls and proxies can introduce some challenges for Java socket programs. This article has some information on how to cope with proxy based firewalls.
Question: Will you let me know when you write a new article, write a new book, add a new class, update your software, etc?
